About Aberdeen
Aberdeen is a city in northeastern Scotland and the third largest city in the country.
The city is 93 miles northeast of Edinburgh and 398 miles north of London and is the northernmost major city in the United Kingdom. Aberdeen has a long, sandy coastline and an oceanic climate, with cool summers and mild, rainy winters.
Aberdeen was granted the status of a royal city by David I of Scotland, transforming the city economically. Traditional industries such as fishing, papermaking, shipbuilding and textiles have been replaced by the oil industry and the port of Aberdeen.
In 2012, HSBC designated Aberdeen as a significant business centre and one of eight ‘super cities’ leading the UK economy. In 2018, Aberdeen was ranked the best city to start a business in the UK in a survey by card payment company Paymentsense.
