About Perth
Perth is a city on the banks of the River Tay in central Scotland. The historic Perthshire county town and seat of the counties of Perth and Kinross. In 2018, the population was approximately 47,430.
Perth is known as the “Fair City” after Walter Scott’s book Fair Maid of Perth. About 50,000 people live in the city. Perth’s two main parks, North Inch and South Inch, were once islands on the River Tay. The Perth Mint is unique for several reasons. It has the world’s largest collection of investment bullion, the county’s only precious metals refinery, and the world’s largest and most expensive one-ton gold coin.
Perth has been voted the best place to live in Scotland. The only Scottish city in Rightmove’s top 20, Cornwall’s St Ives is the UK’s best place to live.
